The Perla A. Matthews Photograph Album comprises 62 photographic prints chiefly documenting the activities of the Edgar Allan Poe School and the Stephen Girard School gardens. Images include views of the Edgar Allan Poe School (erected between 1913 and 1914) located at 21st and Ritner Streets, the establishment of the school garden and structures at 22nd and Ritner adjacent to the Clark, Thomas, and Co. Furniture Factory, the teachers and students at work, harvest photographs, and students and teachers on excursions, for example, what appears to be a student trip to the Fairmount Water Works.
